Marrakech is one of my favorite places to go (I am still keeping my fingers crossed that one day i will be photographing a wedding here). It is culturally and visually rich, vibrant and a feast for all senses. They get nurtured with a potpourrie of things unfamiliar and wellknown - like f.e. the sound of hot mint tea being poured into a glass, the rich taste of cinnamon, storcks mating sounds, melodic chill out music mixing with the voice of the muezin, the sounds of the streets, the color cobald blue and so on. So in November i spent a few days here. Something that i have been looking forward to since a long time. Actually since my first visit last year. And just in case you are going there for a wedding and have a few days to spend before and after, here are a few suggestions for your 48 hour trip in Marrakech. (If you really go, please ask the bride if she has a wedding photographer already – yes, shameless self marketing i know - I would be delighted – maybe not shooting with an iPhone then).

Ok here are a few impressions: // drink a mint tea in Cafe des epices right in the center of the herb market // have a sunset drink in Terrace des epices with a stunning view to enjoy /// wander around the souk and herbal market (make sure you get all the herbs and teas explained) //// visit the Maison de la Photographie //// have a relaxing lunch at Grand Cafe de la Poste to escape the medina crazyness // visit peaceful Dar Cherifa //// take a drive to Bel Di country club have a relxing day by the pool, followed by a oh so yummie lunch //// visit was once was Yves Saint Laurents green retreat Le Jardin Majorelle // wander around Medersa Ben Youssef /// visit Faisal in his little shop and see his handmade scarfs (i absolutly love mine) //// inbetween get lost and go with the flow. And most of all enjoy.

Me = very lucky. I am just going through a Pre-Wedding session i did in Barcelona {an absolutlyamazingcreativecool
mediterraneanvibefoodlovingcity that i totally LOVE, especially cause it’s by the sea and i feel like a happy fish in the OCEAN..
but more to come later..} So here is one frame i took on the side {no it’s not the groom} in La Boqueria {at 9 am} which is the epicenter of food freshness and a local foodie hangout {ok and some tourists}.

There is something very inspiring in showing gratitude to the good spirits each day. Nothing in life comes for granted and finding a “canang sari” in front of you door in the morning is a very beautiful reminder of that.

Many areas/houses have been replaced by modern high-rise buildings. People were relocated to outskirts.

A few weeks ago i had the wonderful chance travelling to the Provence for a wedding. On my way back from Monteux to Montpellier Airport i did a little roadtrip through the beautiful countryside. Making my way around villages, hilltops and orchards
i couldn’t get over a strong calling. I wanted to get a glimse of the sea. Smell it, hear it, see it.
And this article/photo came to my mind again. Of a place where you can sit on the rooftop of a church. Overlooking the ocean.

3 hours later i was sitting on this roof and it felt magical. I arrived early enough to climb the tiny stairs just in time for a stunning sunset over Saintes Maries de la Mer and finally the sea. I couldn’t have been happier. This is really one magic place.

So if you are seeking an unusal place to make a whish or just enjoy the breathtaking view and atmosphere – go there. Grab a bottle of wine and for an only 2 euro admission (to the church) you get an experience that is incredible and truly one of the most romantic places. Even getting there is worth the trip. It’s an stunning one hour drive through the Camarque, known for its fascinating landscape, wild horses, flamingos, bulls and gypsies. After sunset add a walk on the beach, a fresh seafood dinner
(gambas XXL a la plancha!!) and finish the day falling asleep while listening to the songs of the sea. P e r f e c t.
